Shri Sanjeev Kumar Bhati is a member of the Indian Foreign Service. He assumed charge as the Assistant High Commissioner of the Republic of India at Rajshahi, Bangladesh on 3rd March 2019.

This is Shri Bhati’s second stint as a Head of Indian Diplomatic Post and he was the Consul General of the Republic of India to Reunion Island at Saint-Denis with concurrent accreditation to the Mayotte Department of the French Republic.

Before his arrival at Rajshahi, he was posted at the Indian Embassy in Brussels, Belgium which is also concurrently accredited to the European Union and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Shri Bhati’s other Diplomatic assignments were at the Embassy of India in Sofia, Bulgaria [with concurrent accreditation to North Macedonia], Consulate General of India, Hong Kong [with concurrent accreditation to Macao SAR of PR China] and Consulate General of India Dubai, UAE.

In the Ministry of External Affairs, he has served in various capacities dealing with a wide range of subjects like Energy Security, External Publicity, Protocol, Archives & Records Management, Indian Diaspora and Administration.

Shri Bhati is a Graduate in Science with Honours in Botany from University of Delhi. He also holds an Honours Diploma in Computer Systems Management from NIIT, New Delhi and a Certificate in Cyber Security from Gujarat Forensic Sciences University.

He is trained in Computer programming and Cyber Security. His hobbies include reading, following politics, travelling and sports - especially cricket.

Being born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, the starting point of India’s first war of Independence of 1857, Shri Bhati’s mother tongue is Hindi. Besides Hindi, he can speak Urdu, English and French. He also has some knowledge of Arabic, Chinese [Cantonese], Bulgarian, Punjabi, Bhojpuri and Bangla languages.

Shri Bhati is married to Smt. Sunanda Pradhan Bhati and they are blessed with twin sons aged 4 years.
